Fake Genetics

The plate arrived clean and somewhat colonized. I did a transfer to test before putting it to grain. Everything colonized quickly and normally but just wouldn’t trigger pinning. It sat like this for a full month before I reached out to the vendor and asked if they needed anything special since they were a Nat cross. I’d never worked with them before so I understood maybe I was doing something wrong. He told me to “just be patient”. I let it ride for a bit longer before I cutting some additional slits for FAE. This did trigger pinning but at this point the mycelium was starting to show bacterial infection so I was unable to yield much from the bag. At this point I reached out to the vendor and mentioned that they resembled neither the leucistic traits of the AA+ nor the long stringy-ness of Natalensis. He said “you mentioned it got infected— that’s probably why”. So I started over and tried the clean plate transfers on 5 more bags. All of the bags fruited totally clean and yielded the exact same unremarkable fruits. I asked the vendor if I could see a reference of what they were *supposed* to look like and he ghosted me. After talking to several other folks and trusted cultivators in the community I found out, this is not an isolated incident. Everybody I talked to had the very similar experiences. I’m not sure why there are so many positive reviews, but that’s why I’m writing this— because nobody else has. I gave 2 stars because the plate was clean and at least in the beginning the vendor was responsive. Nevermind the fact it was all bs
