Psilocybe Fagicola Research Plate
$30.00
Psilocybe fagicola is native to Mexico, particularly in high-altitude forests. It grows in the Sierra Madre mountains and other nearby subtropical regions, primarily in association with beech trees (Fagus) and other hardwoods.
It thrives in humid, temperate forests at elevations ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 meters (3,280 to 9,840 feet).
The mushroom typically grows on decaying wood, fallen branches, and other decomposing organic matter, especially during the rainy season.
The type specimen for the species was collected in 1959 in a beech forest in Hidalgo, Mexico.
Psilocybe Fagicola” means “dwelling with beech trees” or “inhabiting beech trees.” This name reflects the mushroom’s ecological preference for growing on or near decaying wood, particularly in forests where beech trees (Fagus species) are present.
