The Psilocybe cubensis “Gold squat” is a distinctive variety of the renowned psychedelic mushroom species, known for its unique appearance and potent psychoactive properties. Unlike typical Psilocybe cubensis strains, the Gold squat variant stands out with its cap that ranges in color from a deep golden yellow to a rich ochre, often shimmering in the light with a slightly metallic sheen.

The cap of the Gold squat Psilocybe cubensis starts off convex and expands to a diameter of up to 10 centimeters, sometimes developing a slight nipple-like protrusion at its center. Its surface is smooth when young, gradually becoming finely fibrillose or even slightly scaly with age. The gills underneath the cap are closely spaced and initially pale beige, maturing to a dark purplish-brown as the mushroom reaches full maturity.

The stem of the Gold squat Psilocybe cubensis is robust and firm, usually white to pale yellow in color, often with a slight golden tint towards the base. It features a partial veil that leaves remnants as a delicate ring or skirt around the stem, which may eventually disappear as the mushroom matures.
