Psilocybe Hopii is described as a new species for science from the San Francisco Peaks Mountains, just north of Flagstaff, in north central Arizona, USA, in a Populus tremuloides forest with Pseudotsuga and Pinus. It is a bluing mushroom that belongs to the Ps. Cyanescens-complex, but with special polymorphous cheilocystidia. It has possible traditional uses as well as the relationship to the Hopi tribe of the region.
