These plates have been isolated using various techniques (e.g. Grab and Drab, Serial Dilution, Streaking) and repeatedly checked for the absence of clamps to verify they are monokaryons. These are the starting material for mon-mon and di-mon (Buller phenomenon) crosses as well as newly developed techniques using multi-spore syringes and grain spawn.
